Astana Opera artists performed songs from famous movies
Astana Opera artists performed songs from famous movies, familiar to every Kazakh. The long awaited concert was held at the camera hall as part of the project ‘Movie Songs: Reloading’, a series of movie songs performances. The concert featured famous songs from Soviet and modern films.
All compositions were accompanied by a video series to enhance the atmosphere of legendary films such as ‘My Name is Kozha’, ‘Kyz Zhibek’, ‘The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath’ and many other.
The unique arrangement for all compositions was completed by talented Kazakhstan conductor Alikhan Idrissov especially for this project.
ALIKHAN IDRISSOV, CONDUCTOR, PROJECT AUTHOR:
The concert features 22 compositions, mainly by Soviet and Russian composers. It took nearly half a year to make a compilation. I’ve picked the movies first and then songs. At the final stage I have done the arrangement that took about 2-3 months because I was carefully choosing instruments and soloists.
Unlike the previous two concerts of the project, the last program was entirely new. Immortal hits were performed by the leading soloists of the theater such as Sundet Baigozhin, Zhana Tapina, Tatyana Vitsinskaya, Ramzat Balakishiyev and Saltanat Bekmaganbetova.
SUNDET BAIGOZHIN, HONORED WORKER OF KAZAKHSTAN:
These movie songs are familiar to all of us and we really loved these melodies, they are so meaningful, very memorable melodies, they are special for us. I want to say that the music of those times was different, but also there are modern Kazakh TV series and films, and there will also be works arranged in a modern style.
The concert involved theater teams: Chamber Orchestra, male and children's choirs led by the chief choirmaster, honored figure of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Dautov. According to the project organizers, their parade of popular soundtracks will continue. Together with Astana Opera artists, the audience will have another chance to make a musical journey in the era of their favorite films.
