Kazakhstan, Japan sign agreements worth $1.5 billion
Kazakhstan and Japan signed contracts worth 1.5 billion dollars at the joint business forum. Nursultan Nazarbayev called on Japanese businesses to actively participate in government programs and offered Japanese entrepreneurs immediately five projects, where they can and need investment. Kazakh President advised for domestic businesses to adopt the technologies and implement best practices in various fields.
Nursultan NAZARBAYEV, PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN:
New technologies should be introduced in such spheres as metallurgy, chemical, petrochemical, engineering, construction, and the food industry. The program Nurly Zhol is being implemented in Kazakhstan. Within it, the large-scale investments are made in the highways to the south, east and west, as well as transport infrastructure. The exhibition Astana EXPO-2017 opens broad prospects. By choosing this direction, we would like to make a contribution to the preservation of the environment, provision of accessible and clean energy.
Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed, investors are exempt from all taxes for 10 years. They can bring in foreign workers on special preferential visas. Up to 30% of costs will be reimbursed after the completion of a project. The President announced an agreement that has been operating since October 25. It directly concerns the protection of joint investments.
At the business forum the sides agreed that major powers should share technologies in exchange for the oil and gas. Now, Japan will share with us the latest developments in the nuclear industry, medicine, transport logistics and agriculture. Also, they have already announced that they will invest $11 billion in Kazakhstan's geological exploration.
Shinzo ABE, PRIME MINISTER OF JAPAN:
We do not just supply the equipment, but also train staff. This is the approach of our country. This process is actually beneficial to all. This applies to the Expo exhibitions. You will have afterwards the most advanced technologies. They can be implemented and then gain profit from it. Finally, to make own discoveries based on these scientific developments.
After the forum, Nursultan Nazarbayev, and Shinzo Abe visited the exhibition of joint ventures. There are 50 such enterprises in Kazakhstan. Moreover, these industries are already working and profitable. New projects were presented at the forum. Moreover, the technologies can truly be considered as fantastic.
