Prospects for alternative energy will be discussed at the forum under the framework of the EХPO 2017
There are only a few days left before the start of Astana EXPO 2017. The global exhibition will open on June 10th. After the opening ceremony, Ministerial Conference and the 8th International Forum on Sustainable Energy Development will begin at the expo. Experts will discuss the prospects for development and use of alternative energy sources. Approximately 20 leaders of relevant ministries from different countries, as well as CEOs of major energy companies and heads of international organizations have already confirmed participation in the forum.
BOLAT AKCHULAKOV, GENERAL DIRECTOR, KAZENERGY ASSOCIATION:
- The countries that are very rich in natural resources like Kazakhstan and Russia, there might be an issue on efficient and more environmentally friendly use of fossil fuels along with other alternative sources of energy, like wind and solar which results in competitiveness. This conference and forum are set up to discuss these issues of how to lower electricity tariffs for consumers in the future.
Following the results of the forum, the Ministerial Statement will be adopted with the measures outlined in it in order to promote the new global summon until 2030. This also becomes a part of principles of the expo’s manifesto which is the main final document of the event. The organizers told the press about the future of the expo facilities. For example, one of them will be sued to host an international center of "green" technologies under the auspices of the United Nations. The center will actively cooperate with experts from OECD countries, the European Union, Russia, China, India and Latin America.

- We hope that this Center which will be created in several years will help development of green technologies, primarily in the Central Asian region. The center will develop strategies for these countries to implement green technologies. These strategies aim to transfer green technologies and to create scientific and technical conditions in every country.
Today Astana EXPO 2017 has sold more than one million tickets. In the exhibition complex, almost all construction work has been completed. 115 countries and 22 international organizations are preparing to present their boldest developments in the field of green energy at this grandiose platform.
