Export potential of Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan is working to expand its exports and the range of goods for export. The republic intends to enter the markets of the Central Asian region and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) with its fruit and vegetable products. Apricots the Batken region have proven to be quite popular in these countries. The main thing is to solve the issue with its delivery. The part of the harvest, which can reach 500 tonnes, is currently exported to the neighboring Tajikistan. In order to supply fruit abroad, a logistics center is built in the Batken region that meets the EAEU requirements. With the completion of its construction, local farmers will be able to export apricots to the countries of Central Asia and the Eurasian Union.
TURSUNALI TOLOMUSHEV, HEAD OF AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVE, KYRGYZSTAN:
- Why not to trade with the countries of the Eurasian Union? The region’s entrepreneurs come to sign contracts, ask whether we have warehouses and how much products we can supply. However, we do not have a logistics center. We will build the logistics center that will allow us to trade with Russia and Kazakhstan.
The only logistics center in the region is built owing to foreign investors. Agrarians are sure that the next step should be the construction of a processing plant. This will allow producing the additional goods from local apricots. This will also contribute to economic development and the growth of export potential.
