Water cooperation in central Asia
International scientific conference was held in Tashkent to mark the 25th anniversary of the Central Asian Interstate Commission for Water Coordination. Heads of ministries of five countries, representatives of large financial institutions, scientists and experts took part in the event. The delegates highlighted that the commission, whose foundation was laid in Kazakhstan, played a big role in preserving the unity of the Central Asian countries. The conference participants have also discussed the restoration of the Aral Sea basin, the efficient use of water resources and environmental improvement in the Central Asian region. The meeting participants have also discussed prospects for improving water cooperation.
