Kazakh delegation took part in the east forum Berlin
Cooperation perspectives between the EAEU and the European Union have been discussed in the east forum in Berlin. Leading politicians, businessmen and experts talked about deepening trade and economic relations despite the current challenges. According to them, such factors as Brexit and armed conflicts should not affect the rapprochement of East and West. Kazakh delegation took part in the discussion as well. Kazakh Vice minister for Investments and Development, Yerlan Khairov told about transport and logistics potential and new economic opportunities and conditions created in Kazakhstan for foreign businessmen and investors. In particular, the negotiations were held with heads of such leading global concerns as Metro Group, Schaeffler Group, and Siemens Central Asia. German businessmen have emphasized that they are interested in cooperation with Kazakhstan.
ASKHAT BEISENBAYEV, REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE FOR EUROPE, ‘KAZAKH INVEST’:
- We are primarily interested in economic cooperation, in attracting German companies to the Kazakhstan market. There was an opportunity to meet with representatives of many trans-national companies, some of which we have already mentioned in the discussion. The actions we have agreed on in the meeting will be groundwork for further identification of mutual interests, and we hope that their meetings will be held in Kazakhstan.
RAINER LINDNER, CEO, SCHAEFFLER GROUP:
- We have created a discussion platform where Europe and Eurasia can meet and discuss various issues. It became an open and transparent debate platform. I think that it is very important to maintain such dialogue between the EU and the EAEU. I would like to emphasize great potential of Kazakh-German cooperation. Kazakhstan’s industrialization is also an important step forward.
Kazakhstan is planning to expand cooperation with United Arab Emirates as well, in particular, in the sphere of science and education. The Kazakh Secretary of State and the rector of Masdar Institute of Science and Technology discussed this opportunity. Kazakhstan pays particular attention to cooperation with the UAE. This year, the countries are marking the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
GULSHARA ABDYKALIKOVA, KAZAKH STATE SECRETARY:
- The cooperation between the UAE and Kazakhstan are developing dynamically. Many political and economic issues are solved in secure and trustworthy atmosphere. The Kazakh President has visited the UAE twice this year. The president met with the Crown Prince in order to discuss a number of issues and conclude agreements.
The Kazakh State Secretary invited a guest to the international forum ‘Women for Future Energy’ that will be held as part of Expo 2017.
