Industrial modernization increases export capacities
Kazakh enterprises have to be progressive in order to become competitive in the global markets. Modernization is the best way for companies to be able to export their products. The Almaty Heavy Machine Building Plant will undergo modernization. The company with 75-year-old history is ready for change and transition to modern equipment. One-third of its products is exported to the neighboring countries. The company’s management plans to increase this figure as well as the geography of exports.
ZHETPISBAY EDIGENOV, DIRECTOR GENERAL, ALMATY HEAVY MACHINE BUILDING PLANT:
We have developed an investment plan for construction of a new complex of the plant. The famous scientific research institute METMASH has partnered with us for this purpose. We are working jointly with the mayor’s office in the construction of a new enterprise.
The new complex will be located in the free economic zone in Alatau district near Boralday. The volume of attracted investments will total at least $170 million. The plant’s products range is quite vast, but mostly the enterprise manufactures equipment for heavy engineering. Today, more than 700 people are employed by the company.

In addition to industrial production, all kinds of equipment can be manufactured. We only need to have more orders.
Kazakhstan’s Carriage Building Company resumed its production in Pavlodar. The enterprise received a large order for production of railway platforms. The company was founded within the program of industrial-innovative development. The plant is equipped with the most advanced equipment and production capacities allow producing 2,000 freight gondolas and 500 boxcars annually. This year, the enterprise manufactured more than 200 carriages. Now the factory's designers are working on a completely new project of innovative carriages and universal railway platforms.
BERIKBAY AMIRZHANOV, DEPUTY HEAD OF PRODUCTION:
We are now developing the design documentation. We are waiting for components for the assembly of the two experimental carriages and their certification.
