Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in THE UN Security Council
The initiatives proposed by Kazakhstan are timely and relevant. The international expert community highly appreciates Kazakhstan’s activities as the chairman of the UN Security Council. The Kazakh domestic and foreign political scientists spoke at a conference in Astana. According to expert of the Institute of World Economics and Politics Zhumabek Sarabekov, one of the most important outcomes of Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the UN Security Council was the inclusion of the topics of development of the Central Asian region in the global agenda. In addition, the republic’s activities in the Organization are an opportunity to once again strengthen its status as a peacekeeper in the international political arena and to introduce the UN member states with its vision of solving global problems, including the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. Nearly 30 events were organized under Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the UN Security Council.
