EXPO 2017 International Equestrian Sports Cup was held in Astana
EXPO 2017 International Equestrian Sports Cup was held in Astana. The tournament was preceded by stunt performances. Stuntmen showed horse riding stunts, toppled off the horse while holding a weapon. There were Kazakh national competitions such as tenge alu (picking up a coin), archery, kyz kuu and races of Kazakh greyhounds tazy.

- The main goal is to demonstrate Kazakh culture, show that we have the history and this is interesting. I believe that every visitor will enjoy the performance and will learn more about Kazakh people and Kazakhstan
Undoubtedly, baige is the main part of the tournament. Spectators can see the full variety of equestrian sports: alaman baige, team race and an ambling gait and the so called flat racing, which is popular worldwide. Riders from across Kazakhstan, from Rusia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Poland took part in the tournament. The tournament’s total prize fund made up 100 million tenge.

- I admire the scale of the international specialized exhibition in Kazakhstan. Being progressive and aimed at developing advanced technologies, Kazakh people also value their culture and traditions. This equestrian tournament proves it.
Organizers say EXPO 2017 Cup is not the last sports competition held as part of the international specialized exhibition. It is expected that nearly 20 international sports competitions will be held in the summer.
