Football tournament in England marks 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence
A charity CIS Football Cup was held in the famous Wembley stadium in England. This event was devoted to the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence. Students from many post-Soviet countries took part in the tournament along with the Kazakhs. This team has arrived from Leicester, the city of the recent champion of the English Premier League, the football club "Leicester City". The team members are the students of the University of Leicester doing their Master’s degrees within Bolashak program.
ALIBEK ESKINDIROV, STUDENT:
This is all due to the Bolashak program that was launched by President Nazarbayev. It lets us study here, be here, receive education that in the future, we hope, will positively affect our country’s economic, political and other spheres
The event organizers “The Kazakh Society in the UK” say that the students do not only study here but also do sports and pay particular attention to charity. After the tournament, all the raised money will be sent to Kazakhstan for a child’s treatment.

This year, we devote the tournament to the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence. We have close and friendly relations with neighboring countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Uzbekistan and others. And we want to celebrate this wonderful holiday together.
