Cinemas in Kazakhstan to start working from October 26
Starting October 26, cinemas in regions with stable epidemic situation will resume their work. The main condition is the mandatory mask wearing and maintenance of social distance. The occupancy in halls should not exceed 30 percent, decided the Interdepartmental Commission on prevention of coronavirus spread in Kazakhstan. With its permission, shopping and entertainment malls as well as covered markets will work in regions of the so-called “green zone” from this weekend until 5 p.m.
The day before, it was announced that cinemas, according to conservative estimates, incurred losses of nearly 20 billion tenge (US$46.7 million). Due to the forced downtime, which lasted almost seven months, at least ten cinemas were shut down in different regions of the state. Now entrepreneurs are asking to be exempted from value added taxes. Earlier the cinemas in the country have already been exempted from individual income taxes, compulsory pension payments and social health insurance until the end of the year.
