Volunteers from all over Kazakhstan take part in preservation of historical and cultural heritage
More and more Kazakh residents are joining the ranks of volunteers. Many projects are currently being implemented by volunteers throughout the country. ‘Birgemiz: Asyl Mura’ (Together: a Noble Heritage) is among them, thanks to which three Support Centers were established in the cities of Taraz, Karagandy and Turkistan, Kazakh Ministry of Information and Social Development announced. Nearly a thousand volunteers are involved. To them, this experience is not only a good deed that they do, but also the acquisition of special skills required for the work on historical and cultural heritage sites. 17 selected coordinators are receiving specialized training from international experts.
In addition, volunteers participated in 10 archaeological projects in East Kazakhstan, North Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Almaty, Aktobe and Turkistan regions. They carried out special field trips. As a result, volunteers carried out restoration works in the city of Otyrar and took part in laying of the walls of the Darbaz gates in Turkistan. The ALZHIR Museum and Memorial Complex and the walls of Zhasyl Meshit (Green Mosque) were restored in Akmola region with the help of volunteers as well.
68 mini-grants were provided as part of the project. They were awarded to the organizers of local volunteer initiatives for the preservation of historical and cultural heritage sites.
