Number of volunteers increases in Kazakhstan

Volunteers are the new heroes of these difficult times. The number of those who are able to both work and help those in need the same time has increased in Kazakhstan since the beginning of the pandemic. Only in the capital, there are around 700 people involved in the movement. One of them is Bakdaulet Zhandildayev, Chairperson of a branch of Jas Otan Youth Organization. In an interview to Kazakh TV, he spoke about the readiness of the new generation to help nowadays.

“More and more volunteers are ready to provide free transport services each day. There are people who launch online psychology trainings to provide moral support. All of these are free of charge. Volunteers join us every day to open social stores, collect and give out food and cloth to the families in need. Helping out is inherent in traditions of Kazakh people. Everyone wants to contribute during these uncertain times,” he said.

Since the announcement of the state of emergency in Kazakhstan, volunteers of Nur-Sultan have given out two million medical masks from the “Birgemiz” public fund for free. Almost 40,000 families received 50 pieces of personal protective equipment each. Food baskets were handed out to nearly 7,400 low-income families. Volunteers held explanatory talks about risks of being infected with COVID-19 in public places. Bakdaulet Zhandildayev said that the work will continue, while the branch will be always open for people who want to join the movement, who are always ready to help and who are truly happy when doing good deeds.
