Today is National Mourning Day

Today is the National Mourning Day in Kazakhstan in memory of people who died from coronavirus. Entertainment and media broadcasts are canceled throughout the country. Throughout the state as well as on the buildings of diplomatic missions, the state flags were lowered. A minute of silence was announced at 12:00, Nur-Sultan’s time. Memorial prayers will be read in mosques today. Divine services and memorial services will be held in churches.

More than 569,000 people have died worldwide from the virus since the beginning of the pandemic. 375 people died in Kazakhstan.

“I express my condolences to the families and friends of the deceased. This is the tragedy for everyone. I made a decision to declare July 13 a National Mourning Day for people who died from coronavirus in Kazakhstan. I am sure that each of us, wherever we are on this day, will honor the memory of the deceased,” said Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his address.

First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev expressed his sincere condolences to the families and friends of people who died from coronavirus as well.

“This insidious disease claims the lives of our people. This is a big pain and an irreparable loss for all of us. Every loss contains the tragedy of many people, fathers and mothers, daughters and sons, friends. I express my sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who prematurely left us. In these difficult days I grieve with you. We have always overcome all difficulties together, in unity and cohesion. I believe that even today we will find the strength to endure and worthily pass this severe test,” the official website of the First President of Kazakhstan quoted Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Today, the main goal is the fight against coronavirus, care provision to patients, observance with sanitary requirements and responsibility for the well-being of our loved ones. Speaker of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament Maulen Ashimbayev expressed condolences.

“Today all the people of Kazakhstan are grieving. The death of every compatriot is an irreparable loss for us. In this regard, I express my sincere condolences to the families and friends of the deceased. I am sure that the taken measures will allow us to stop the spread of the pandemic and overcome the disease. Our people overcame many hard times due to their unity. Of course, nowadays, our solidarity will stop the spread of the pandemic. Therefore, it is important for each of us to pay attention to our relatives and comply with all the recommendations of specialists. We must fight together for the life of every citizen!” he wrote on his page on the social media.

Personnel of Kazakh TV also express condolences to the families and friends of people who died from coronavirus.
