Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in Turkistan opens on June 15. Approximately one million tourists come here every year to visit this masterpiece of medieval architecture. UNESCO included the monument of ancient architects in the World Heritage List. This tourist destination is popular among Kazakh citizens as well. There is no doubt that a lot of people will visit the place this summer. Preparation to meet tourists is well underway. All roadblocks have been recently removed in Turkistan region and now entry is free. However, sanitary rules are reinforced to the tourist attractions.
“Tourist destinations, resorts, holiday homes, all of them can work with observance of all sanitary safety measures. Visitors should keep a distance between themselves, wear masks and regularly use antiseptics. Our experts will monitor and ensure that these rules are observed,” said Nurbek Nyshanov, Head of the Regional Department of Quality and Safety Control of Goods and Services.
As one of the ancient cities in Central Asia, Turkistan became a major center of regional tourism. A modern travel system was established in the south of Kazakhstan in recent years due to the state support and private investments. Five-star hotels are being built; infrastructure is being developed. Construction of an international airport, museum of Turkic peoples, center of Kazakh khans and batyrs, Youth palace, museum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi and drama theater is underway in the city.
It is planned to attract up to five million tourists to the spiritual center of Turkic peoples by 2025.
