Kyrgyzstan celebrates 175th anniversary of great Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbaiuly
A presentation of the book called “Abai” in Kyrgyz language was held in Bishkek on an online conference organized by the International Turkic Academy (ITA).
Kyrgyz Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Azamat Zhamankulov said that several events are planned to mark the 175th anniversary of Abai. He added that an online conference “Value of the literary and spiritual heritage of Abai Kunanbaiuly” will take place on May 27 with participation of scientists from several countries. They expect Abai’s Center will be opened in Bishkek with support of the Kazakh Embassy, Kazakhs’ association in Kyrgyzstan and the Culture Ministry. Alykul Osmonov National Library of Kyrgyzstan will hold an online book exhibition.
President of Turkic World Educational and Scientific Cooperation Organization (TWESCO) Darkhan Kydyrali, Head of the United Nations Educational and Scientific Cooperation Organization (UNESCO) Asian Pacific Division Andrei Chevelev as well as the well-known turkologists from Azerbaijan, Bashkortostan, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Turkey, Tatarstan and Uzbekistan took part in the videoconference organized by the ITA.
