Google and Yandex add Almaty region tourist attractions to their maps
The most attractive and popular tourist destinations of Almaty region appeared on the maps of the world’s largest search engines, reported the press office of the Governor’s Office of Almaty region. More than 8,000 tourist destinations of Almaty region were added to the global online platforms. In addition, the locations were uploaded to the region’s micro-site ‘TripAdison’. This work took three years to complete. The next goal is to publish information on the ‘Wikipedia’ online encyclopedia.
The press office also reported that the work on implementing the state tourism development program in two directions of the TOP 10 is well underway. It includes the Almaty mountain cluster and the coast of Lake Alakol. According to the figures of the summer season in 2019, the number of tourists on the lakes of Alakol, Balkhash and Kapshagai amounted to 1.725 million people.
According to the forecast of the Tourism Department of Almaty Region, by 2025, the region will be visited by 4 million people, including 3.5 million tourists who will visit the region’s tourist attractions. Nearly 600 billion Tenge (US$1.428 billion) will be invested in the Almaty mountain cluster, including 498.7 billion Tenge (US$1.187 billion) of private investment.
