Kazakh Capital Hosted Forum on Interethnic Relations
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Scientific-Expert Council of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan.
The capital of Kazakhstan hosted an international forum of scientists and experts, Unity is in Diversity: Kazakh and International experience. Famous public figures, scientific and creative intellectuals, leaders of NGOs and youth organizations attended the event. The participants reviewed the results of the Council of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan.
Based on the Assembly, the Council created by the First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev has served as a consulting and analytical body since 2009. Remarkable scientists who study inter-ethnic relations have joined the Council.
“Kazakhstan closely interacts with Central Asian countries. These integration processes can’t be limited with Kazakhstan. Instead, they should go beyond which means we should study these processes in Central Asia and Eurasian space. There are topics such as the role of the Assembly, the establishment of the dialogue, mediations and historical memory. The role of youth is discussed as well. Values of the younger generation have changed but they are drivers of all positive transformations and the future image of Kazakhstan and the entire region,” said Chairperson of Kazakhstan’s Ethnic Assembly Scientific Expert Council, Aigul Sadvokasova.
“This is a very significant and sophisticated body of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan which allows to thoroughly study the processes of ethnopolitics. One of the most important achievements of the 10-year work of the Scientific Expert Council is the emergence of the departments of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan. This is also a tool for modernizing the public identity and forming intercultural relations,” said Head of Department of ENU, Anatoliy Bashmakov.
