Astronaut Shannon Walker Arrives in Kazakhstan
NASA astronaut, Shannon Walker has arrived in Kazakhstan. She is expected to take part in the Space Week in Almaty from October 4th to 10th. Educational events dedicated to the scientific and technological achievements of the space industry will be prepared to participants.
Dr. Walker served as a Flight Engineer of the crew of Expedition 24/25 which was a long-term mission to the International Space Station launched from Baikonur nine years ago. She had spent 163 days in space.
“I am very happy to be here back in Kazakhstan because it gives me opportunity to see much more the country than I saw here for my launch and my landing. I was pretty much only on Baikonur Cosmodrome and now we can do some sightseeing. I concerned to meet some people and it’s wonderful to be able to talk with schoolchildren here. I really appreciate the efforts that Kazakhstan does for a human space flight. Since we launched out of here and landed out of here, the Kazakh participation is so important,” Walker said.
