2020 is declared as Volunteer Year in Kazakhstan
Volunteer movements of Kazakhstan will have a new start of development. 2020 is declared as the Volunteer Year in Kazakhstan.
President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his state-of-the-nation address highlighted the role of volunteers in the process of strengthening civil society.
For example, a volunteer club at the youth center in Shymkent has been operating since 2010. Almost all the events in the city are organized with the volunteer club’s participation.
One-third of students in Turkistan region are involved in volunteering. Many different projects and charity campaigns in various areas are implemented with the help and support of the volunteers.
Volunteers have an active lifestyle. Volunteering is the platform which allows the youth to adapt and to be involved in all issues relevant to society. The young people also help communities as well as implement and promote socially significant ideas and projects,” said Chairperson of Council of Veterans, Yergentai Koshkenbayev.
Projects worth 15 million tenge were implemented in the region in 2018 with the help of volunteers.
The number of volunteers is planned to be increased to 10,000 in Turkistan region by the end of the year.
