Almaty Attracts Foreign Tourists
Almaty recorded more than one million tourist arrivals last year. Half of the travelers were from Europe, USA, Russia and Central Asia.
The travelers are interested in the city’s developed infrastructure, natural beauty and ski resorts. For the convenience of the foreign tourists, description pointers with Braille font and QR codes are installed on popular tourist sites. The tourists can also have access to complete information about the city’s sights in six languages.
Australian tourist, Philip Thomson has traveled to almost the entire world. He said that Kazakhstan was a discovery for him. He’s been to Almaty, Altai region, Turkistan and Mangystau region. The Australian traveler admits that no Courchevel can be compared with mountains of Almaty and hospitality of the locals. He promises to return to Kazakhstan with his friends, where he enjoyed visiting exotic places and doing extreme sports.

The increased tourist flows to the city have become possible due to a number of measures taken for the development of the industry. In Almaty, the share of tourism and related services in the Gross Regional Product will be increased to 6% by 2025.
According to experts, every second tourist coming to Kazakhstan pays a visit to Almaty. At the end of 2018, for the first time in history more than one million tourists visited the city. In the first quarter, the growth of tourists was estimated at more than 45.9%.
Kazakhstan’s state program will be implemented to ensure that the country becomes one of the leading tourist destinations in the world. The program will have a tremendous economic effect attracting nearly 800 billion tenge of direct investments.
