25 New Renewable Energy Facilities to Be Built in Zhambyl region
Kazakhstan has a great potential to develop its renewable energy industry. Zhambyl region is one of the leading regions that are well developing the sector for the past eight years.
Two large wind power stations are currently being developed in the region and will be completed in the third quarter of 2019 and 2020, respectively.
Director of the Department of Housing and Utilities, Nurzhan Yerezhepov said that the climatic conditions of Zhambyl region are very suitable and favorable to generate electricity via sun, wind and water.
An additional 25 renewable energy facilities, worth over 500 billion tenge will be commissioned by 2023 in Zhambyl region with the participation of local and foreign investors.
The total electrical capacity of the facilities would be 1,392 megawatts.
Meanwhile, there are currently 74 renewable energy facilities in Kazakhstan with a total capacity of 680 megawatts.
The share of renewable energy in Kazakhstan’s total energy balance will be increased to 50% by 2050.
