Kazakh automotive industry shows output growth
Kazakhstan’s automotive enterprises are increasing their production volumes. Over 29,000 vehicles worth 185 billion tenge were manufactured in Kazakhstan in 11 months of 2018. The enterprises manufactured cars, trucks, buses, special purpose vehicles and trailers. Compared to last year, the production numbers grew almost 72%. Since the beginning of the year, more than 9,000 cars were manufactured at a plant in Kostanay. The enterprise extended the model range and started manufacturing new vehicle types. Modern technologies and latest equipment were also used.
OLEG KOMISSAROV, HEAD OF COMPLETE KNOCK-DOWN DEPARTMENT:
- We launched an additional overhead conveyor, which allowed us to assemble frameless models, such as monocoques, which we are manufacturing now. This is our main product. The production line became more versatile. We can collect both framed and frameless cars now. The line’s capacity can collect up to six cars per hour.
The production line of the enterprise includes cars running on alternative fuels. The first batches of public transport operating on gas were delivered to several cities in Kazakhstan.
SERGEI MOGILATOV, DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF AUTOMOBILE PLANT:
- We can see that people in the regions are interested in this kind of fuel. We dispatched 70 gas-powered buses to Aktobe. Meanwhile, five buses are operating in Aktau traveling between the airport and the city.
Experts believe that further development of production volumes will enable the Kazakh car industry to gain recognition worldwide. Kazakhstan-made vehicles are in high demand in Tajikistan and the EAEU countries. 840 million tenge worth of cars were shipped to foreign markets in 2018. The export figure exceeded the last year’s value by four times.
