The share of the tourism industry in the economy of Akmola region will grow by eight per cent by 2023. In addition to the Pearl of Kazakhstan, The Burabay resort area, the government will pay attention to the development of the area around Astana. The area includes Arshaly, Tselinograd, Akkol and Shortandy districts. They are located in almost an arm’s length from Astana. For example, there are currently 100 touristic facilities around Astana with the capacity of 75,000 persons per year. 40 facilities are capable of providing services throughout the year.
RUSLAN SHAMKENOV, DIRECTOR OF RECREATIONAL ZONE:
- We are providing 30 services in the summer and up to 25 services in the winter. They include sleigh rides, ice slides, a skating rink, ski tracks which will be launched by December 1.
Every year, Akmola region is visited by over one million tourists, including guests of Astana. Sports tourism is gaining more popularity; therefore, the modern tourist centers are equipped with pools, high-rope courses and climbing facilities.
DANIYAR IDIYATOV, HEAD OF TOURISM DEPARTMENT, AKMOLA REGION:
- There are holiday tours, one-day tours, one-evening tours and picnics. We are working intensively on development of tourism. We are currently tackling the issue of the spontaneous recreational zones in Arshaly and Tselinograd districts. There are equipped zones and the ones operating throughout the year. It contributes to the relief of the Burabay resort zone.
Six new tourism facilities emerged in the region last year, and four were established this year with plans to open three more facilities next year. 5 billion tenge are invested in the regional tourism industry every year.
