Nursultan Nazarbayev’s address to nation was discussed at Alisher Navoi Tashkent State University of Uzbek language. Kazakh Ambassador to Uzbekistan Yerik Utembayev told students and lecturers about ten priority points outlined in the document. The audience was particularly interested in the idea of online teaching by the best lecturers of the world.
YERIK UTEMBAYEV, KAZAKH AMBASSADOR TO UZBEKISTAN:
- Young people showed interest in the main points of the Kazakh President’s address and expressed their readiness to be involved in this big process, and the desire not only to work on joint projects such as transition to the Latin script, where Uzbekistan has extensive experience, but also to work on new publications that will be available to many readers, and international experts. In this respect, I think, the ideas of the Head of State, the tasks set are relevant not only on the national level but also on the regional scale, throughout Central Asia.
Support of young scientists has been discussed here as well. The Kazakh President indicated that it is necessary to allocate quotas, scientific grants to researchers and actively implement joint projects with leading foreign universities, research centers, and large enterprises. The meeting participants supported Nazarbayev’s initiative on the transition to the Latin script, and stated that this will bring the Kazakh language closer to the international level. A special expedition will be organized to establish cooperation between Kazakh and Uzbek scientific circles that will kick off in Turkestan, the spiritual capital of the Turkic peoples, and continue in Uzbekistan.
SHAKHNOZA BAZARBAYEVA, STUDENT:
- Transition to the Latin script will be completed in Kazakhstan by 2025. The new alphabet will be used at all schools, colleges and universities. I liked this task in the President's Address. Now is the time for new technologies. English language plays a leading role. The transition to the Latin script will lead to a better future. I believe that we will overcome all obstacles together with the fraternal nation of Kazakhstan.
