Kazakhstan, takes part in emergency session of Organization of Islamic Cooperation
Kazakhstan supports the creation of the State of Palestine with Eastern Jerusalem as a capital in the 1967 borders. Official Nur-Sultan also advocates for the settlement of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict based on international law, relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative.
Kazakhstan’s official position was presented at the emergency open session of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held online at the level of foreign ministers of the OIC member countries. Kazakh delegation was led by Kazakh First Deputy Foreign Minister Shakhrat Nuryshev.
Participants discussed and formulated a collective position on the spreading of Israeli sovereignty to parts of Palestinian territory, including the West Bank of Jordan river.
Kazakhstan urges the conflicting parties to abandon unilateral steps and resume the negotiation process based on the principle of “two states for two peoples” without putting forward preconditions.
Shakhrat Nuryshev also highlighted the importance of a constructive dialogue of the interested parties.
The session was organized under the coordination of the foreign ministries of Saudi Arabia and Palestine as well as the OIC General Secretariat. The event was attended by representatives of more than 39 countries.
