Sustainable Growth of Central Asia Discussed in Munich

Experts opined that the speech of President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, was very important at the Munich Security Conference 2020. A panel discussion dedicated to Central Asia where the main speaker was President Tokayev has been organized for the first time over 50 years of holding the authoritative summit.

Kazakhstan have been always pursued a tactic aimed at peace and stability and has managed to maintain a balance in foreign policy. Afghanistan also became a strong and reliable allied country for Kazakhstan. It was symbolic that the second speaker of the panel discussion was the current President of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani. Kazakhstan’s prioritized areas included attraction of foreign investments and economic growth of the region.

“I think that it was the first time at the Munich Security Conference 2020 when assessments of opinions, competent opinions as well as prospects of development of the Central Asian region have been named. In total, this entire discussion will contribute to increasing the interest in the region and attraction of investments,” said Advisor to President of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Karin.

“President Tokayev called it a reality of being between two great powers, between China and Russia. Kazakhstan has to be careful as a result and that’ what comes to it. He’s got the reality and he’s got to be realistic. What you see is the country trying to maintain good relations with its strong neighbors,” said President of Council on Foreign Relations, Richard Haass.
