New Anti-Government Protests Erupted in Iran
New anti-government protests have erupted in Iran. Hundreds of people took to the streets of Tehran, demanding the Supreme Leader of the country, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, to step down. They also demanded to punish the people who are responsible for the plane crash. The protestors believe that authorities knew what happened from the very beginning and hid the truth. They opined that politicians tried to conceal the fact that Iranian citizens were on board.
On January 8th, the Ukraine International Airlines’ Boeing-737 aircraft crashed near the Imam Khomeini Airport in Tehran, killing all 176 people on board. Later, the President of Iran admitted that the plane was shot down by the Iranian military, who mistook it for a hostile object.
