Expert Opinion on Kazakh President’s Speech at 74th Session of UN General Assembly

Kazakhstan demonstrates its commitment to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.

Representatives of the UN mission in Kazakhstan said that the global agenda until 2030 will allow the republic to effectively implement the Strategy 2050.

Meanwhile, during the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev voiced a number of initiatives on international security and sustainable development.

In particularly, he made a proposal to create the Center for Sustainable Development for Central Asian countries and Afghanistan based on the building of international organizations, which opened in Kazakhstan this year.

Experts said that this initiative is of great importance for the region.

Norimasa Shimomura, the UN resident coordinator for Kazakhstan, said that he was very glad to see President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the UN platform. The Head of State said that Kazakhstan hosted the first forum on Sustainable Development Goals in April, 2019. 90 percent of the Sustainable Development Goals were integrated into strategic state documents of Kazakhstan. The President also highlighted the importance of SDG financing.
