President of Kazakhstan Called upon to Use Economic Potential of SCO

At the meeting in Bishkek, President of Kazakhstan, Qasym-Jomart Toqayev, called upon to efficiently use the economic potential of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. President Toqayev highlighted that formation of the Eurasian financial advisory mechanism in the eight-sided format will contribute to this cause.

The President showed confidence that the Astana International Financial Center will influence development of economies of the SCO member states. As part of the 19th meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the SCO Secretariat and the AIFC.

President Toqayev also focused on topics of innovative development and ensuring security in the region. Moreover, Qasym-Jomart Toqayev paid attention to climate change calling it one of the most urgent contemporary challenges.

“The decisions made today and the signed documents will contribute to expansion of cooperation between our countries. The main goal of our organization, first of all, is to build confidence as well as to establish a constructive dialogue and interaction in order to ensure security and cooperation within the SCO. In this regard, the Action Plan for 2018-2022 should be fully implemented as part of the strategic agreement for the SCO on long-term good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation,” Toqayev said.
