The development of political events in Kazakhstan is being closely followed by the United Nations (UN).
The UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Miroslav Jenca said that the international body officially praised the role and crucial initiatives introduced by the First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev.
He said the current President, Qasym-Jomart Toqayev’s contribution to the strengthening of international cooperation between Kazakhstan and other foreign countries are also being recognized by the UN.
Jenca believes that the snap presidential election, which will be held on June 9, 2019, is the right and timely step for Kazakhstan.
“It is very important that the political changes in Kazakhstan are being held peacefully and democratically.”
“We highly value the initiatives introduced by the Kazakh First President and the Kazakh Government. The initiatives include the closure of the Semei Nuclear Test Site, the fight for nuclear-free world and the contribution to the preventive diplomacy development,” Jenca added.
