International Experts Praised Nursultan Nazarbayev’s Presidency

International political experts believe that the First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev has made a priceless lifetime contribution into strengthening of the country’s sovereignty and regional leadership.

Former Turkish President, Abdullah Gul said Nazarbayev is a wise politician who has made a difficult yet important decision.

“Nursultan Nazarbayev is my friend and is respected among the Turkic people. I believe that Kazakhstan’s First President has left the country in capable hands.”

“I know Qasym-Jomart Toqayev personally and I respect him. I think he will promote Kazakhstan into the top 30 developed countries,” he said.

Meanwhile, former Secretary General of United Nations Ban Ki-Moon said Nazarbayev’s prominent reforms and initiatives will be continued by the new leadership.

He said that Kazakhstan’s peacekeeping initiatives had been proven to demonstrate the ways to achieve peace, security and sustainable development of countries.

“He (Nazarbayev) is leaving a great legacy. He is definitely one of the great global leaders. I have a very close relationship with him during my tenure as a Secretary General of the United Nations. I have also met him many times, visited Kazakhstan and he has been my great interlocutor,” Ki-Moon said.

Nazarbayev had shocked the world by announcing his resignation on March 19th, 2019 after serving as the First President of Kazakhstan from April 24th, 1990.

He retains the title of the First President of Kazakhstan and at the same time continues to head the country’s ruling party, Nur Otan.

He also remains as a member of the Constitutional Council and chairman of the Security Council.

Nazarbayev is succeeded by Qasym-Jomart Toqayev, the former speaker of the upper house of parliament. Toqayev will serve as the President of Kazakhstan until the end of the presidential term.
