President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s official visit to Finland starts today. Within two days, the Kazakh president will hold meetings with Finnish president Sauli Niinistö and Finnish businessmen. Bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Finland reached almost US$308 million last year and more than US$160 million in the first seven months of this year. The number of direct investments attracted from Finland reached US$334 million over the past 13 years. There are more than 50 Finland-invested enterprises operating in Kazakhstan.

- It is the second official visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Finland. Nursultan Nazarbayev paid the first state visit to Finland in March 2009. The parties are expected to sign a number of documents, including more than 20 commercial contracts.
President Nursultan Nazarbayev is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with King Philippe of Belgium on October 18th at the 12th summit of the Asia-Europe Meeting in Brussels. This forum serves as a platform for the discussions of the economic topics and the current challenges of global and regional security. Kazakhstan is the only Central Asian country among the ASEM members. During the visit, President Nursultan Nazarbayev will hold meetings with leaders of 30 large European companies and financial institutions operating in industries such as machine-building, metallurgy, chemical industry and others.
