Astana will host the sixth Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser and Secretary General of the World Conference of Religions for Peace, William Vendley will attend the forum. Astana hosted the first Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in September 2003. This initiative of the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev opened prospects for promoting interreligious dialogue at the global level. Having constructed on the basis of trust and mutual understanding, it will contribute to overcoming violence, religious extremism and terrorism. The UN forum participants showed their gratitude to Kazakhstan for President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s global initiative and the organization of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions which has been attracting the global attention for 15 years.
