Provision of gas in Kazakhstan is one of the five initiatives of President Nazarbayev. As part of the program, the Government is planning to implement a project on the construction of the main gas pipeline in Kyzylorda region along the Karaozek-Zhezkazgan-Karaganda-Temirtau-Astana route. The gas will be provided to 2.7 million inhabitants. Experts said that the gas supply will have a positive effect on the environment in Kazakhstan.
ZIYASH KIYAKBAYEV, DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR, KAZAKHSTAN ENERGY MINISTRY:
- According to President Nazarbayev’s instruction, the construction will be completed by the end of 2019. We are currently working on the design and estimation of documentation which is undergoing state assessment. Construction will begin in October after the selection of contractors.
The president’s fifth initiative is being implemented in the Turkistan region. This year, gas will be supplied to Shaulder and Temir villages in Otyrar district. Natural gas will be provided to more than 70 per cent of the regional population.
YERLAN AITAKHANOV, GOVERNOR OF OTYRAR DISTRICT, TURKISTAN REGION:
- There are 12 settlements on the other bank of Syrdarya River. Gas will be supplied to them from the Arys city. Construction of the gas point there is not completed. We are preparing documents to connect to this point. We are planning to complete the gas supply between 2020 and 2022.
In Zhambyl region, almost half of 377 settlements are provided with natural gas. The regional Government allocated 11.7 billion Tenge to finance 10 projects that will be implemented in 2019. By 2024, local officials are planning to provide gas to 94 per cent of the regional population.
NURBAI TILEGENOV, SENIOR STAFF, ZHAMBYL REGIONAL GOVERNOR’S OFFICE:
- We are planning to supply gas to 171 villages by 2025. Last year, we began working on connecting five settlements in Talas district and four localities in Sarysu district. We held a tender and selected a contractor.
The Government is working on providing gas to remote areas in Atyrau region. Design and estimation works are being developed to connect Makhambet, Issatai and Kyzylkoga districts to the gas pipeline. Gas will be provided to 34 villages here. Based on the data provided by specialists, gas will be supplied to 93.3 per cent of the region’s localities after the completion of construction works.
