Transport Infrastructure development
Kazakhstan is stepping up its efforts in establishing a modern transport and logistics system to implement its full transit potential. The large projects in transport and logistics field are contributing to the development. For example, over two billion tenge for a new fly-over bridge is under construction in Aktobe. The bridge is part of the highway connecting the city with Russia along the Western Europe – Western China international corridor.
AYAZBAY OSMANGALIYEV, HEAD OF MOTOR ROADS DEPARTMENT:
- 2.1 billion tenge was allocated from the republican budget. We began construction in May last year. We have finished constructing the bulk of the bridge, and currently are working on constructing the walls and the road. According to the plan, we are set to open the roads by August 30.
The new bridge is built over the railroad. The eight meter high columns are unique for Aktobe because the walls were reinforced with special armored nets. The builders used plastic webs in construction of the road paving. All the construction supplies required for the construction of the facility are locally produced materials.
MARGARITA SAIDUALIYEVA, CHIEF ENGINEER OF CONSTRUCTION COMPANY:
- We are applying new technologies in the construction. We applied geoweb here, followed by crushed stones or sand, topped by another layer of the geoweb. The procedure is repeated multiple times to reach 8 meters and 45 centimeters.
According to experts, the new flyover will function for 150 years. A covered pedestrian crossing will be constructed at the four lane road. About 12,000 vehicles are expected to drive along this flyover per day as soon as it starts operation.
