‘Astana – Alash Armany’ exhibition
Unique historical items were presented at the Astana – Alash Armani exhibition, which was held at the National Center of Manuscripts and Rare Books. The talisman of Mashkur Zhussup Kopeyevб the ‘Suzani’ carpet of Zhusupbek Aimauytov and the collection of Sultanmahmut Toraygirov’s works published in 1933 as well as the musical instrument kobyz, which belonged to Zhayau Musa were presented at the exhibition. Rare books in Arabic and Latin, personal belongings of historical figures, photographs and drawings of famous artists were also displayed.
ADILALI ZHABYKBAY, HEAD OF DEPARTMENT, CENTER FOR MANUSCRIPTS AND RARE BOOKS:
- Tokbai Zhumagulov was repressed and went to Russia. He composed several Kazakh songs on Russian musical instrument. One of his popular compositions in Kazakh language is ‘Eki Zhiren’, which became a folk song.
The exhibition is jointly organized with the Museum of Literature and Art named after Bukhar Zhirau in the Pavlodar region. The event was held as part of the Modernization of Kazakhstan’s Identity Program.
