Kazakhstan will host the 25th World Mining Congress in June
Kazakhstan will host the 25th World Mining Congress in June. The event will be held for the first time not only in Kazakhstan, but also in the Commonwealth of Independent States. More than 2,000 scientists, geologists and businessmen from all over the world will take part in the congress. The event will have a positive impact on the domestic mining industry and metallurgy. Last year, the volume of mining industry in the country increased by 9%, while processing grew by 5%. Production of non-ferrous metals and iron ore grew 7% and 8%.
NIKOLAI RADOSTOVETS, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ASSOCIATION OF MINING AND METALLURGICAL ENTERPRISES:
- Anyone can come and work here. We have favorable economic conditions and the necessary legislation that meets international requirements. We not only have a subsoil use code, but also a tax code. This is the first time we did.
KANAT BAITOV, DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON, COMMITTEE OF INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AND SAFETY:
- We have an individual approach to each investor. Forming an investment contract implies the adjustments and creating conditions for investors who will be free from taxes on property and land. Last year, there was a large measure of state support: when starting or withdrawing an enterprise, we return up to 30% to an investor. I think there is no such measure anywhere.
The 25th World Mining Congress is scheduled for June 19-21 in Astana. 2,000 delegates from 50 countries, 400 authors and speakers from 37 states and representatives of associations and universities from ten republics will attend a large-scale event.
