The Era of independence: Encyclopedia of development
Members of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences recommended the Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s recent book titled "The Era of Independence" as a history textbook for high schools in Kazakhstan. They believe public schools should introduce a new class on Kazakhstan’s modern history, which is often taught as a one-semester course at a university level. The book describes the development of the Kazakh society and fundamental changes that took place during the formation years of the country in the early 1990s. The edition is a narration of major events in the young republic’s recent history.
ALTYN UALTAYEVA, HEAD, CENTER FOR TRAINING OF STAFF SCIENTISTS:
- The book is about our society and its development path. If we are not proud of our own people and if we are not proud of all that we have gone through and have accomplished, then we are working for nothing.
