Kazakhstan and Belarus: Cooperation in education
Officials of Kazakhstan and Belarus are expanding cooperation in education. A large cultural and educational center was opened in Minsk. The center was opened as a result of a joint project of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University and the Gumilyov Eurasian National University. Today the center is open for people who want to attend the most interesting lectures from the best teachers of Kazakhstan and Belarus. The lectures will be broadcast live on websites of the universities. In order to implement an electronic lecture hall, pools will be created which will include the most prominent professors. Modern digital technologies will be used for recording.
YERLAN ARYN, DIRECTOR, MODERNIZATION OF PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS INSTITUTE:
- My generation remembers many beautiful names and works as well as what the Belarusian people are known for to the whole world. Of course, Ales Adamovich, Ivan Shemyakin, Maksim Tank and Yevgeniy Skurko are people whom we knew.
The new center launches another project which is to create a joint research team. Volunteers will find and study information about Kazakhs who participated in the partisan movement in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War. Officials of Belarus have already transferred unique archival documents.
ALEKSANDER ZHUK, DEAN, MAKSIM TANK BELARUSIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY:
- In return, we agreed that the "Natives of Belarus are domesticating virgin lands" project will be implemented in Kazakhstan. It was our joint project, and it's cool that we do not forget our history and keep it and students are involved in this.
The new educational center is also aims at promoting mutual exchange. This year several students from Kazakhstan have already been trained in the largest university of Belarus under a special program.
