Five social initiatives by President Nursultan Nazarbayev
According to experts, the initiative of President Nursultan Nazarbayev on increasing the accessibility and quality of higher education will open new horizons for talented people. As part of the initiative, the number of grants will be increased to 20,000. According to student at the Auezov South Kazakhstan State University Zhora Sagabek, this gives a chance for many young people to get into the most popular programs with scholarship.
ZHORA SAGABEK, STUDENT, AUEZOV SOUTH KAZAKHSTAN STATE UNIVERSITY:
- I am very glad that the number of grants for engineering majors has been increased. Engineering programs are in high demand in the world. Thanks to this opportunity, the country's youth should contribute to development of Kazakhstan.
The university has 50 engineering majors. Foundations of entrepreneurship are taught in the university, too. In the near future students of the region can apply for 15 new different majors, including robotics and mechatronics.
KANAT BAIBOLOV, PROVOST, AUEZOV SOUTH KAZAKHSTAN STATE UNIVERSITY:
- We intend to open programs like robotics, mechatronics and the programs related to construction of smart city projects. For this purpose, we studied the market, specifically, where and what engineering majors are in demand. As a result, we plan to launch 10-15 majors.
The School of IT Park has already been opened in the Regional Youth Resource Center. Young men and women will learn how to use modern digital technologies and Internet resources. Nearly 700 youngsters showed their desire to get into the educational project.
AIDYN YESZHANOV, PROJECT COORDINATOR:
- The main objective of the IT park project is not only popularization of, but also increasing the digital literacy among young people. Moreover, the school will support and give investment assistance for young people who are planning to open their IT project.
The students have already started implementing 5 digital projects. One of the projects aims to create the app that translates texts from Cyrillic to Latin. The center plans to offer other 10 new ideas before the end of the year.
