Kazakhstan and Hungary: Prospects for cooperation
Kazakhstan considers Hungary as an important strategic trade and economic partner. Friendly relations with Hungary have a positive impact on cooperation with the countries of Eastern and Central Europe. Today, not only a direct flight, but also numerous projects unite the capitals of the two states. According to statistics, last year, bilateral trade turnover exceeded US$156 million.
KAIRAT ABDRAKHMANOV, KAZAKH FOREIGN MINISTER:
- Kazakhstan traditionally considers Hungary as a strategic partner and ally in the Central and Eastern Europe region. These relations are reinforced by trusting relations between President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, as well as close contacts between our governments.
Kazakh Foreign Minister and Hungarian Minister for National Economy discussed prospects for cooperation in agriculture, health care and energy in Budapest.
The Kazakh Foreign Minister highlighted that Kazakhstan plans to attract investments as well as transfer knowledge and technology. In return, Mihaly Varga suggested working together in digital transformation.
MIHALY VARGA, HUNGARIAN MINISTER OF NATIONAL ECONOMY:
- We have special professional programs that we could share with Kazakhstan. For example, how to prepare the businesses for the digital era? The second program is the industry 4.0. We can offer cooperation between the companies. The third area is digital transformation in public services. We are digitizing the tax area and we want to share our experience with Kazakhstan's partners.
During the meeting, Hungary highlighted that the country will contribute to the adoption of a simplified visa for citizens Kazakhstan. Today nearly 350 Kazakhs are studying at the universities of Hungary. Many of them have scholarships. Last year for the first time the Hungarian government allocated 200 grants for the citizens of Kazakhstan. This year, they plan to increase the number of grants to 250.
