There are a number of opportunities to make agriculture a new driver of Kazakhstan’s domestic economy. Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, outlined the goal of reaching a qualitatively new level in agriculture. In his book titled "The Era of Independence" the head of state analyzed achievements in the industry in recent years. He also wrote about the opportunities and benefits for farmers. Regarding the long-term ‘Agribusiness 2020’ program, Nursultan Nazarbayev highlighted that the project envisages a 4.5 fold increase in state support for agriculture by 2020.
"To cite Nursultan Nazarbayev, "in 2014, exports of beef and milk grew six-fold; while the export of sausages increased nine fold. The export of canned meat and fermented milk products showed positive dynamics. However, the export of flour decreased. In general, the adopted program allowed strengthening positions of the Kazakh agricultural producers. In 2015, state subsidies in agriculture reached approximately US$1 billion. The agricultural producers almost did not pay taxes.”
