QR codes to be assigned to historical monuments of Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan has started a large-scale work on updating the database of cultural facilities of the country. As part of the Sacred Map of Kazakhstan project, historical monuments will be assigned special QR codes. For example, in the Akmola region, 20 holy sites have already been assigned a unique cipher. Ten of them have not only text, but also video information, including the stella of Abylai Khan in the Burabai district, the monument to Bogenbai batyr, the 18th-century commander in the Yereimentau district. The QR code has also been assigned to the monument in Atbasar dedicated to famous writer Ilyas Yesenberlin.
KUANYSH SHAKSHAKOV, DIRECTOR, CENTER FOR PROTECTION OF HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL HERITAGE:
- The project is designed for 2 years which means within two years we plan to establish these tables at 700 sites. Since this is a pilot project, it is implemented in Kazakh and Russian. In the long term we plan to translate the into English.
