KAZAKHSTAN’S TOURISM POTENTIAL
Astana EXPO 2017 has made Kazakhstan more recognizable throughout the world. 2,000 Ukrainian tourists have visited Kazakhstan since the beginning of the international specialized exhibition.
VALENTIN VOITKOV, TOURIST, UKRAINE:
- I am from Kiev. Astana has left a good impression on me: it is a young city with interesting architecture. We walked in the city and met many locals. It is pleasant that we and Kazakhs always find a common language. We are welcomed and respected here.
Kazakhstan’s tourism potential was presented in Ukraine’s capital. The road show also featured a cultural performance of the Kazakh compositions accompanied by the dombra. A master class on assembling a yurt was given to the visitors as part of the event. Astana EXPO 2017 attracted many Ukrainian tourists. The number of tourists is most likely to grow in the future. Travel agencies are offering more and more travel packages. Ukrainians are starting to discover new destinations for travel.
TOKTAR IGEMBAYEV, ADVISOR, KAZAKH EMBASSY IN UKRAINE:
- Astana is a city with a huge tourism potential, which can offer the widest range of services, from cheaper options to luxury hotels, so every visitor can find whatever suits his or her interests and budget.
ASSEL KARBAYEVA, SPOKESPERSON, ASTANA CONVENTION BUREAU:
- The city of Astana itself is changing every day, it is becoming better, new buildings are raised, and new events are taking place in Astana. There are nature resorts outside Astana, such as Korgalzhyn and Burabai. Tourists are very interested in them.
Ukrainians visit Kazakhstan not only because of attractions but also because of the common historical background and friendly relations.
ZHALGAS BALGOZHIN, STAFF, TOURISM INDUSTRY COMMITTEE:
- As our great poet Olzhas Suleimenov said, Kazakhstan is where tolerance is forged. Representatives of more than 100 nationalities live peacefully here and Ukrainian language and culture are very close to us.
As a result of the road show, Astana and Kiev have agreed to expand cooperation in the tourism sector. The necessary infrastructure has been created for that. Ukrainian and Kazakh airlines are offering a range of flight options between the two cities.
