EAEU to create single electricity market
Further integration of the EAEU member states was discussed at the intergovernmental council’s meeting in Astana. The development of cooperation in energy and trade was on the agenda.
SOORONBAY JEENBEKOV, PRIME MINISTER OF KYRGYZSTAN:
- Our country is interested in a single electric power market, which, first of all, is designed to liberalize electricity trading in the EAEU.
Electricity sale and purchase transactions are planned to be conducted in Kazakhstan and Russia. Experts say that the launch of the single market will increase supply by 1.5-2 times on the first stage already. Airspace will become single too, and equal tariffs will be introduced to common safety standards for aircraft and equipment. At present, the EAEU has become a hub between Asia and Europe.
DMITRY MEDVEDEV, PRIME MINISTER OF RUSSIA:
- The roadmap for air transport will be adopted as part of creating a single air space. It lets equalize the tariffs for flights and services at airports.
The heads of states discussed the strategy of digital development, customs declaration and directions of foreign economic cooperation with Iran.
