ILLUMINATION OF ASTANA
Astana is lit up with thousands of lights. The Kazakh capital shines at night. Kilometers of garlands and millions of light bulbs turn the city landscapes into a real fairy tale.
Perhaps, almost everything is illuminated in Astana. Various decorations beautify the city and and bring aesthetic pleasure.
FARIDA ABDRAKHMANOVA, GUEST:
- Well, Astana has a very beautiful infrastructure and architecture. They remind me of the quarter in Dubai. This side reminds me Europe. Everything is gorgeous. Today, we have decided to walk along the embankment before our departure. I have no words. Lighting and everything are amazing. Wonderful!
NURLAN KALDAMANOV, RESIDENT, ASTANA:
- The city is getting brighter and more beautiful day by day. The embankment is full of people at night. Everyone is outside to get some fresh air after the hot day. Even I don’t want to stay at home. Astana is very beautiful at night. Lighting is everywhere, even in the yards. Roads are paved in any district and in outskirts. The city became very beautiful.
It might seem that the city illumination requires lots of electricity. However, the energy industry has found ways to make it cheaper and more efficient. For example, lanterns with light sensors that detect people’s movements are installed on the Dostyk and Enbekshiler streets.
GALYMBEK TUREKHANOV, DIRECTOR, ASTANA CITY LIGHTING, LLP:
- Astana is one of the most dynamically developing cities in the world. In terms of illumination rating and image quality, we believe that we are on the same level as, perhaps, London, Singapore, Tokyo and New York. I think that in the long term the city will continue paying attention not only to general lighting but also to decorative lighting.
This year the city authorities are planning to replace 25,000 incandescent lamps with LED ones. This will reduce electricity costs by 50%.
