HISTORICAL EXPEDITION visited Poland
Kazakhstan’s historical expedition has reached Poland. Members of the scientific group have discovered new facts about the life of the people that once left the Desht-i-Kipchak to travel to the Old World. The expedition unveiled some facts about their role in the Teutonic battle.
SAPAR ISKAKOV, HEAD OF EXPEDITION:
- Our ancestors made an enormous contribution to the outcome of this battle. We can even say that they won the battle because they used the tactic inherent to steppe warriors.
Desht-I-Kipchak warriors used a special tactic. While some part of the troop distracted the enemies, others drove them into a dead end leaving no way for retreat. Scientists are still studying this historical event.
ALI BAZAROV, HISTORIAN:
- Military troops consisting from Tatars and Karaites used to create some sort of a cage that locks the opponent. Moreover, we were so much surprised when we found out what the warriors used as a shield to defend themselves from the invaders.
Karaites are another ethnic group that used to inhabit the territory of Desht-i-Kipchak in the ancient times. Expedition participants took samples for genetic tests to find out if there are any kinship ties.
MARIYA LAPKOVIA, CHAIRWOMAN, ASSOCIATION OF KARAITES IN POLAND:
- We, Karaites, believe that our ancestors came from the Desht-i-Kipchak territory
History plays a fundamental role in the upbringing of the younger generation. Selim Chazbijewicz, Polish Ambassador to Kazakhstan, believes that the modernization of public consciousness reflected in the program article by Nursultan Nazarbayev can become a guiding star in this direction.
SELIM CHAZBIJEWICZ, POLISH AMBASSADOR TO KAZAKHSTAN:
The program of modernization of public consciousness is very important not only for Kazakhstan citizens but also for the people of the entire Asian region because national identity can be preserved only when you know the history and traditions.
Kazakhstan’s historical expedition is continuing its journey. The historians will soon visit Germany, France and Italy. The travellers believe that they will find the traces of our ancestors there.
