25TH ANNIVERSARY OF KAZAKHSTAN’S STATE SYMBOLS
Kazakhstan marks the 25th anniversary of its state symbols: the flag, the coat of arms and the anthem. 4th of June is the Day of the State Symbols. Kazakhstan's coat of arms, flag and anthem are the manifestation of Kazakhstan's spirit of patriotism, interethnic harmony and the people’s desire to live in peace. Every element of the state symbols reflects Kazakhstani people’s values. For example, the sun and golden eagle on the flag symbolize prosperity and independence.
KULYAISHA AKTAYEVA, STAFF, LIBRARY OF FIRST PRESIDENT OF KAZAKHSTAN:
- Three laws on state symbols of Kazakhstan were adopted after gaining independence in December 1991. Until 1996, the coat of arms and the anthem were amendments. All these amendments and all that hard work were necessary to affirm the status of a respectable player on the international arena.
The new standard of the coat of arms was presented in Astana by author Zhandarbek Malibekov ahead of the state symbols’ 25th anniversary. One of the new attributes was a bright color palette. In addition, elements of the coat of arms were assigned specific names and descriptions. More details about their meaning can be found in Zhandarbek Malibekov's book, which was recently published in the Russian and in English languages. To comply with the new standards, the coat of arms will be produced electronically. By the end of the year, the coat of arms in the republic will be replaced by the new one.
ZHANDARBEK MALIBEKOV, AUTHOR OF KAZAKHSTAN’S COAT OF ARMS:
- I refined more than 40 elements representing the culture, history, 4-5 century BC, the era of our Golden Man, and then the Hunnic period, then the Khans period, Kultegin, representing concepts of unity, independence. It signifies all people living in Kazakhstan under a single Shanyrak, a single dome. The elements of the state’s coat of arms reflect the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan’s flag, coat of arms and anthem are the pride of the country. The Republic’s flag was hoisted on the highest mountain peaks, taken to outer space by Kazakh cosmonauts, and the anthem was played at the international sporting events signifying the victory of the Kazakh athletes. In over 25 years, Kazakhstan’s state symbols have become recognizable worldwide.
