Uralsk launched a rocket-artillery ship
The new missile and artillery ship ‘Mangystau’ hit the water in Uralsk ahead of the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Armed Forces. The 26th ship of Zenit shipbuilding plant was designed by the order of Kazakhstan naval forces. A ship weighing 250 tons can speed up to 25 knots, this is about 46 kilometers per hour. The defender of sea borders in the Caspian Sea is equipped with a sonar and anti-sabotage equipment to detect and destroy underwater threats.
VYACHESLAV VALIYEV, DIRECTOR, SHIPBUILDING PLANT:
- It has all means of communication, navigation, navigating, and a good habitation. Its speed is about 25 knots, autonomy is about 10 days. So, it is a very good ship with respect to the service and habitability.
The shipyard conducts the full cycle manufacturing starting from designing and ending with installation of the equipment. Shipbuilders took into account the wishes of the military seamen to improve maneuverability and combat capabilities. Now the ship has to undergo sea trials and tests.
ALEKSANDER PANKRATYEV, GAS-ELECTRIC WELDER:
- This ship is more advanced; it has the new navigation system and new artillery. Kazakhstan’s shipbuilding constantly makes a little progress. We slowly accumulate new experience.
TALGAT ZHANZHUMENOV, KAZAKH DEPUTY DEFENSE MINISTER:
- I think this is not going to be the last Kazakhstani warship. Kazakh Defense Ministry’s industrial program will be further implemented and probably new types if ships will be manufactured in the future.
The shipyard is currently manufacturing the FC speedboat for the Caspian Sea border guards. It will be launched in the beginning of summer.
